Life Is Full of Little Ironies

You’ve heard of Charles Darwin…right? Did you know he also developed what he called the “tree of life”? Yeah, he figured all life came from one source, which he illustrated with the trunk of the tree. And the different species evolved off that one main trunk. Fascinating stuff. Utterly ridiculous, but fascinating.

You may be asking yourself why a pro life musician would be talking about Charles Darwin’s “tree of life”. (then again…maybe you’re not asking yourself that question at all) Well, it’s like this. I love to observe all the little obscure, and sometimes not so obscure, ironies in the world. And it’s very ironic that an atheist who developed the theory (heavy emphasis on theory) of evolution would use the analogy of a tree to illustrate his observations.

What makes it ironic? I’m glad you asked. Because Jesus, who is God, is also called the “Tree of Life”.

Jesus is the one who spoke and the whole universe came into existence. He’s the one who will defeat the antichrist with only a breath from His lips. And He’s the one who is the source of Life.

Scientists are finding out each year how much more complex our world is. And whether or not they choose to believe in creation as a viable explanation of how we all came into existence, they can’t deny the irreducible complexity of even a single cell.

But it’s simple…

An infinitely wise, powerful, creative, and living God can (and did) create an infinitely complex universe. He wrote the code for each living creature. We call it DNA. And it’s truly fascinating that each species procreates only its own kind using its unique DNA code. Fascinating because the Bible talked about this thousands of years ago.

Every year scientists are finding it more and more difficult to defend an earth that’s billions of years old. And they’re finding it harder to defend how we could have ever evolved into such complex living creatures. Even evolutionary scientists say there is no evidence for Darwin’s “tree of life”.

That’s because the real Tree of Life, Jesus, created us and the world and every complex thing in it. And the Truth trumps fiction any day of the week.
