Have You Noticed How Many Pro Life Music Stations There Are Out There?
Yeah…me neither.
I’m curious why so many Christian radio stations and Christian “recording artists” shy away from the Pro Life vs Pro Choice debate. And actually I’m not really too curious because I think I can take a pretty good guess why. But since life seems to be a core issue with God…and…since God is so adamant about protecting the innocent and punishing the guilty (not the other way around)…it appears to be a no-brainer.
Yet, pro life music…and I mean truly pro life music that stands for the right and personhood of every human being, born and not yet born, isn’t getting much airplay in America. That’s a sad fact. If you’re a Christian (and I’m thankful to say I am) and if you’re a musician, this is THE most important issue to sing about. If Christian singers and songwriters won’t sing and write about the murders of unborn babies…who on earth will? Madonna?Eminem? J-Lo? Usher? or D. none of the above? Correct answer: D
On a more positive note…this evening I spoke with a guy in New York who pays for a 15 minute Pro Life Music program on one of his local radio stations out of his own pocket. He found me online and liked my voice and music and contacted me to see if I’d be interested. I’ll be sending him some of my music to play on his program. Neither one of us makes any money from this…in fact, as I mentioned, he pays for the program himself. We’re just both interested in spreading the message about the horror of abortion. And we agreed that music is one of the best tools to do that!
Once I know more details I’ll let you in on ‘em. In the meantime…pray that more pro life music starts getting written and played on Christian radio. And, as always, I appreciate your support.

I write pro life music and I insert pro life messages in the praise and worship music I write my church.
Do you think God would prefer me to just write about His peace, love, and joy we can have in this life instead?
I don’t. After all…God is the source of life…and I don’t think it would take much of a leap of faith to believe He’s staunchly pro life. And all through the books of the Bible you’ll find very pro life messages, creation references, and even descriptions of how we were formed by Him in our mothers’ wombs. Very cool stuff. I took a line out of Psalm 22:10 and used it as an opening line of a song I wrote for church. It says “from my mother’s womb You have been my God”. And we can take life a step further back with another line I love in Jeremiah 1:5…”before I formed you in the womb I knew you…”
Just imagine…
God knew us before He formed us in our mothers’ wombs. And if we can be known by God even then…we must surely be persons…even then. There’s no reference in the Bible where God says that same thing about any rock or any other creature. So we must not only be persons from our very beginning…we must also be pretty special to God.
It’s beyond our power to comprehend our own beginning. But we can know it’s very important to God.
So we need to make it important to us and our fellow human beings. That’s why I write pro life music. And that’s why I’m unapologetic about inserting the pro life music into the praise and worship music I write. I encourage all Christian songwriters to examine my take on this. If you find me to be in conflict with God, call me on the carpet. If you find me to be in sync with God…join me.
And maybe we can create a pro life choir praising and worshiping God for His gift of life to each of us. Stranger things have happened.

Even Under The Weight Of Heavy Guilt…Hope Springs Eternal
Abortion is an issue far too many people (Christians as well as non-believers) have wrestled with in this life. And in many cases are wrestling with right now.
Thankfully we’re all created by the God who made a way out of the quagmire of guilt. And don’t think for a second that people who’ve experienced the trauma of abortion don’t wallow in guilt. They do. Even hardened hearts realize the “thing” they’re trying to get rid of is a human life.
I found a very good video with a song that talks about the process people might go through once they realize what they’ve done. They lament and wish they could undo the damage. Then they realize they need “help”. That help can only truly come through the healing grace of Jesus. Once they realize this…they can be restored.
This music and this video do a very nice job of presenting this process. It’s called “Let You Live”. Check it out…

Celebrating Human Life Should Be A No-Brainer
It seems like the most fundamental thing to me…celebrating human life.
I really don’t understand why so many humans put so much emphasis on the life of animals, plants, and other things on this planet. They’re concerned about so-called “endangered” species while defending a woman’s right to choose. And that choice kills a baby every time. Yep…unborn babies in America should be considered endangered…and protected.
The one effort (now a literal movement) which has the best chance to protect unborn babies once and for all is Personhood. You should really check out PersonhoodUSA.com And all I ask is that you keep this one thing in mind…you were once an unborn child.
You had a biological beginning. You were a person from that beginning, and you’ll always be a person. Please look for ways to see to it every unborn baby has the opportunity to experience this life. Speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves.
It’s the least we can do. Right?

1500 Supporters Listened To Personhood Speakers
On Denver’s Capitol Steps
Colorado Right To Life and PersonhoodUSA sponsored the annual March For Life on the Capitol steps in downtown Denver January 22nd at high noon. And what does that have to do with the Pro Life Musician?
I was invited to sing my song “Personhood” and a couple of other tunes, too.
The day started off with a press conference which included Mexican film star Eduardo Verastagui who starred in the pro life movie “Bella”. It earned a top honor in the Toronto film festival in 2006. He saw an abortion film and became a staunch supporter of the personhood movement. Ironically that movement is strong in Mexico.
Next, we got to hear an excellent, young pro life band called “Without Shoes”.
Then we saw and heard from speakers such as: Keith Mason, Jim Shaddix, Lori Goebel, Maria Lancaster, Joe Roccobono, Gualberto Garcia Jones. Leslie Hanks, and Jo Scott.
There were some fun chants like “hey, hey, ho, ho…Roe V Wade has got to go!” And pro-lifers were able to sign the personhood petition as well as buy some cool T-shirts to show their support. I particularly like the T-shirt that was an iTunes knockoff that showed a silhouette of a baby in the womb with earplugs…and it said iPerson.
All in all it was a huge success with over 1500 people crowded around the state capitol steps. I’m pretty sure most lawmakers turned a deaf ear. But a courageous handful actually signed the personhood petition in full view of the crowd.
Hope springs eternal.

The Cold Hard Truth Then Is The Same As The Cold Hard Truth Now
Before I was the “pro life musician” I played secular music for a living. Even though I was a so-called “secular musician” I still knew Truth existed because I became a Christian at the age of 13. I just didn’t live the life I know God would prefer.
The spirit was willing…but the flesh was weak.
Yet…even in my “weak” condition the strength and cold, hard truth of God’s word would still seep through. That’s why the one true God, the Creator of the universe…and everything living in it…is so awesome.
Here are the lyrics to my song “Cold, Hard Truth” from 1991. If you subscribe to the Pro Life Musician podcast, you’ll get the recording. It’s an analog recording with some fairly antiquated equipment. So don’t expect a California production, but check it out…

No Restrictions On Abortion…A President Wouldn’t Support That…Would He?
I’ll say right up front…I’m not a fan of rap. I love the quality and thickness of their recordings, but I just don’t want to listen to a lot of rhyming and slamming with no melody or attention to the integrity of music. But I also know a lot of people love rap…particularly very young people. So, if you’re gonna listen to rap, you need to listen to a rapper who ain’t afraid to tell the truth. You need to listen to a rapper who supports the personhood of everyone…born and yet to be born.
This next video is from a “pro life musician” who tells it like it is about Obama. He describes his definition of Obamacide like this:
This is the official Music Video for Jesus Disciple’s tribute song “Obamacide” dedicated to our new radical pro abortion president.
Obamacide
o-ba·ma·cide
1 : act of depraved indifference in regards to the unborn during the 2008 Presidential Elections
2 : trading the truth and God for selfish reasons and motivations, while ignoring the life and dignity of the unborn
3 : holding other issues in higher priority over the mass slaughter of thousands each day in America
4 : thinking that just because we can’t see the unborn, they don’t matter
5 : voting for someone who has vowed to sign legislation (The Freedom of Choice act) which if enacted would abolish all restrictions and limitations on abortion, resulting in millions more dead
I think you’ll agree with Jesus Disciple…even if you don’t like his style of music. Check it out…

Four Words You Never Want To Say: “I Missed My Chance”
In some ways there’s nothing more powerful than music. I’m biased, but I’m also right on this one.
Music crosses language barriers. It moves people to action. It works with urgency, serenity, intensity, passion, subtlety, invisible imagery, energy, simplicity, dreamy-eyed wonder, and deep-down-in-the-middle-of-your-heart…love.
Until I met my wife there was nothing I loved more than my Creator and music. God and music have never let me down…even when I’ve wandered “off the path”. And it’s no wonder…God created music. And as a simple, delightful act of His loving kindness, He gave that gift to me.
Here’s a really cool part, though. He gave the same gift of music to so many others. And as a pro life musician, I’ve enjoyed listening to some very incredible singers and songwriters who’ve given their lives to the Lord. Their voices are more important to me than any secular singer who wallows around in the world of self indulgence. So…I’m finding some to feature here on the Pro Life Musician blog.
This next singer is Jaime Thietten. I’ve never heard her before today, but her voice is awesome and this song is too. I hope you’ll give it a listen and find a way to support her by buying some of her music. You can find it here. This isn’t an affiliate link. I don’t make money if you click through and buy anything from her. I just you’ll love her music. Check it out…
